History

Chris Pobstman started Sunland Welding in 1996. A lot has changed since then – new location, bigger team, and a fully outfitted 10,000 sq. ft. shop. But one thing will never change: our unwavering commitment to make things right.

1996

Company opens at original 16 x 20 location in Queen Creek, AZ.
2006

We became incorporated.
2015

We added additional Field Crew, expanding our team.
2018

Expanded from cell towers into residential and commercial markets.
2018

Moved to new 10,000 sq. ft. location in Gilbert, AZ.
2020

Expanded estimating team.
2021

We began purchasing own heavy equipment.
2024

Upgraded our branding to match who we are, today.

Meet our Team

PRESIDENT

A hands-on leader with 17 years of welding experience, Justin loves turning client ideas into reality.

Justin Pobstman

He officially joined his dad in the family business in 2008, and was named president in 2020. Today, he focuses on smoothing the customer experience across all stages of a project – sales, pre-programming, fabrication, installation, and follow-up. He’s passionate about making things right. That goes for jobs, and relationships. Most clients have Justin on speed dial – he’s the kind of guy you know you can reach out to get his advice. He’s just as focused on helping employees reach new heights in their careers through professional development planning and training. Ask him about: the Peoria Arrowhead Mall Equipment Platform.

CHAIR & FABRICATION DIRECTOR

When he was a kid, a neighbor let Chris ‘strike an arc.’ He fell in love with welding then and there!

Chris Pobstman

The true craftsman of the Sunland Welding team, Chris oversees all shop fabrication. He shares his half-century of welding experience with the team, training employees on proper safety and fabrication procedures. A certified welder and member of the American Welding Society, Chris focuses on quality, craft, and safety. That he gets to do what he loves alongside his son and other family members is just icing on the cake. Ask him about: the time he helped fabricate and install a large platform and screen wall on the side of a mountain (literally).

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

From fine-tuning ops systems and processes to flying the drone, Kevin helps Sunland soar.

Kevin Skochil

Kevin joined the Sunland team in 2020. A manufacturing professional for 20+ years, Kevin introduced Sunland’s Project Lifecycle Plan to set expectations across departments in terms of collaborative client success. He supports hiring and training, business development, and project analytics. He’s also really good at flying Sunland’s drone. A University of Kentucky alum (Go Cats!) Kevin’s also a member of the Kentucky Colonels charitable organization. Ask him about: working against the clock on the Twin Peaks build in Tempe.

ACCOUNTS MANAGER

Numbers and paper make up Sunland Weldings' financial pulse, and Britani tracks it all real-time.

Britani Pobstman

She joined the business in 2014, taking over bookkeeping, budgeting, and payroll. In the manufacturing space, that means invoicing and payment applications, lien waivers, business licenses, contracts, and more. Meticulously organized, Britani loves using financial data to help drive Sunland’s business decisions. She takes pride in the family culture at Sunland – and the company’s reputation for integrity. FIELD SUPERINTENDENT

Projects move seamlessly in the field thanks to Brent.

Brent Rasmussen

He joined Sunland Welding in 2015 as a shop helper. An avid learner and huge team player, Brent’s welding skills, focus on training and best practices, and eye for detail made him a natural fit for Field Superintendent. He uses his more than a decade of welding experience to field verify projects, focused on the smallest details. His certifications include: 3G and 4G SMAW Unlimited Thickness, 3G FCAW Unlimited Thickness, Forklift, Boom Lift, Rigging, RF Training, CPR, and OSHA 10. Ask him about: Passing inspection on a cell tower weld 60 feet in the air in Flagstaff on a freezing cold February day.

PROJECT MANAGER

Joe has an eagle eye for sizing up a project.

Joe Hammer

He knows what it will really take to get a project over the finish line. Joe started with Sunland Welding in 2011 as an estimator. Today, he combines those skills with his 14 years of manufacturing and welding experience to drive client success in terms of deadlines, budgets, and quality. As Project Manager, Joe handles everything from materials procurement to fabrication shop scheduling to quality control. He’s focused on creating stellar customer experiences across the board by proactively getting ahead of the information provided during scoping so all teams can hit the ground running. ESTIMATOR

Dylan is all about the details when it comes to structural steel estimation.

Dylan Smith

He joined Sunland Welding in 2020, bringing with him five years of experience estimating structural steel projects of all sizes. Today, he leads Sunland Welding’s estimating team. Getting clients accurate, competitive quotes is part art, part science. Dylan takes the time to truly understand the scope of work requested, and how to optimize the end product within budget. Built into every estimation Dylan drafts is the amazing atmosphere created by the Sunland Welding team. Ask him about: a custom home in Silverleaf where massive materials were all in a day’s work (or scope).
